If you’ve spent any time in Byron Center in late July, you already know what Byron Days feels like. The streets get a little louder, the parade route fills up early, the smell of fair food drifts across town, and somewhere between the carnival rides and the fireworks, a few hundred neighbors end up standing shoulder to shoulder in a parking lot, admiring each other’s cars.
The Tillema Auto Car Show is back again this year as part of the Byron Days Festival, and we couldn’t be more excited to host it!
Why We Host This Car Show
We’ve been part of this community for a long time, and the car show is one of our favorite ways to give back. It isn’t a sales event. We don’t set up a tent full of inventory or chase anyone around with paperwork. We block off the lot, let the cars do the talking, and turn the whole thing into a fundraiser. Vehicle entry is $10, and 100% of those proceeds go straight to Hand2Hand, Hope Unexpected, and The Hangar. Three local nonprofits doing real work right here in our community.
That’s the whole point. We’re a small-town shop in a small town, and the people who walk through this car show are the same people we see at the grocery store, at church, at the kids’ baseball games. A lot of you drive in from Dorr, Jamestown, Burnips, and the other communities that make up our corner of West Michigan. You’re not just customers, you’re neighbors. The car show is one weekend a year where that shows up in a really obvious way.
